Last Wednesday, our girls’ golf team launched into the postseason on a high note. After placing 2nd overall and shooting a score of 72 at the Argo Scramble Tournament, our girls were ready to take on the competition at the South Suburban Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs carried that momentum, finishing 4th as a team in their first year as an official team! Junior Mia Devivo earned All-Conference honors after placing 6th. However, she wasn’t the only one with a standout performance. Jacie Strelow shot 108 and placed 16th, Tori Lia shot 111 and placed 20th, and Christa Klonowski shot 113 and placed 22nd.
“In their first year as an official team, the Lady Bulldogs took home 4th place! We also said goodbye to our seniors tonight, honoring them at our home course one last time. Thank you, seniors, for a magical first season. Go Bulldogs!” – Coach Peck.
A magical season indeed. However, our Lady Bulldogs still had some unfinished business. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs took on some of Illinois’ best at the IHSA Regional Tournament. The team as a whole narrowly missed qualifying for sectionals by just one spot, placing 4th (first among all public schools). However, senior Jacie Strelow and junior Mia Devivo battled through and qualified for the Sandburg Sectional at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Orland Park, which takes place next week on October 7th.
Congratulations to our seniors, and thank you for your hard work and commitment over these past four years at Richards. This revolutionary team will forever be cemented in the history of Richards High School. Go Bulldogs!
