AP European History is a staple AP class. Majority of students take it their sophomore year in preparation for the mandatory AP U.S. history their junior year. In the class you will learn about the conflicts and patterns of life all the way from the Middle Ages and the 14th century to modern day. Based on the college board tests in May, AP European History is considered one of the more difficult AP classes to succeed in. Student Declan McKirdie says, “It is a very difficult class and you need to stay on top of your notes and participate in class so you can do well on the test”. Declan and many other students feel that this class is challenging, but in a good way. The class challenges them and pushes them to work harder and achieve their full potential. Ap European History teacher, Mrs. Loureiro agrees with Declan that it is a challenging class, but she adds, “the class prepares students for AP U.S. history and gives them a good base in the sense of taking notes and annotating from a text”. The notes that students will take in this class will prepare them for both future AP classes they may take, but it also provides them with a strong work ethic that will be very beneficial in College. Overall, AP European History is a tough class and does require a good amount of effort, but it provides you with essential skills to succeed further down in your academic career. So I recommend that all freshmen take on this course and strive to use the knowledge they gain to achieve greatness.
